Supporting Gallery Franklin Through a Two-Phase Transition.

Gallery Franklin in St Andrews has completed the second phase of its transition following Lesley Franklin’s purchase of the former Fraser Gallery in 2024. The transition was planned by nexus24 in two distinct phases. The first focused on continuity, ensuring existing audiences and relationships were maintained during the change in ownership, introducing a new design and brand style. The second phase marked the full establishment of Gallery Franklin as a contemporary gallery in its own right, with a complete overnight name change with all branding, signage and communications reflecting its curatorial direction and growing profile.

Brand Development and Signage

As part of phase two, Nexus24 worked with Gallery Franklin to develop a cohesive visual identity, first with the former name that could be applied across the gallery’s physical and digital touchpoints. This included branding elements designed to sit comfortably within the historic South Street setting while clearly expressing the gallery’s contemporary focus.

The new identity was applied to internal and external signage, helping to improve visitor navigation and reinforce the gallery’s presence within St Andrews’ cultural landscape.

Exhibition Brochures and Printed Materials

Exhibition brochures and printed materials were developed to support Gallery Franklin’s programme of contemporary exhibitions. These pieces were designed to complement the artwork, provide clear information for visitors and create a consistent visual link between exhibitions. Using high-end papers from G.F. Smith and finished to the highest of standards.

Email Marketing and Ongoing Communication

To support ongoing engagement with audiences, Nexus24 also assisted with IT support, email marketing, creating templates and campaign designs to promote exhibitions, events and artist updates. This work helps Gallery Franklin maintain regular, visually consistent communication with its mailing list.

A Considered Evolution

By approaching the change from Fraser Gallery to Gallery Franklin as a phased transition, the gallery has been able to build on its established reputation while clearly defining a new identity. The second phase has focused on clarity, consistency and confidence — ensuring that Gallery Franklin’s visual language and communications align with its ambitions for the future.
