Take one world-renowned event - The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo - and one world-leading car manufacturer - Land Rover - and mix, really well. Both are long-standing clients of ours and both came together in 2022, as Pentland Land Rover became the Official Vehicle Partner for the Tattoo’s reimagined show, Voices, as part of a three-year collaboration.
We were tasked with promoting this inaugural partnership, and our thoughts immediately turned to our videography department. A storyboard was soon simmering away nicely under the watchful eyes of our Managing Director and Head of Studio – both of whom have worked with these brands for over a decade now.
Following hours of recceing to piece together the route - along with contingencies to cover every eventuality that could present itself - a full day shoot unfolded across multiple locations in and around Edinburgh. Showing the Pentland Piper* making his way from a Pentland showroom - via some picturesque scenery in the Pentland hills - to the bustling and majestic setting of the Tattoo’s venue, Edinburgh Castle was logistically challenging in the height of summer. From keeping the tartan-clad piper cool, to weaving our convoy through the crowds while getting a wide range of dynamic shots.
But well worth it by the time the footage was weaved together in-house, just in time to coincide with our carefully crafted press release announcing the partnership. The film and accompanying photography - yes we do that too - found its way onto a range of social media channels to give the brands extra traction before, during and after the Tattoo performances.
